Cabinet Secretaries announce fresh appointments to boards across state agencies

In the sports sector, Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya appointed Joseph Maina Njogu to the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for a three-year term starting July 25, 2025.

Several Cabinet Secretaries have made new appointments and re-appointments to various boards and councils across government agencies, reinforcing leadership within the water, health, youth, agriculture, sports, and media sectors.

In the sports sector, Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya appointed Joseph Maina Njogu to the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for a three-year term starting July 25, 2025.

This move aligns with the agency’s goal of strengthening anti-doping oversight in Kenyan sports.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (f) of the Anti-Doping Act… I appoint Joseph Maina Njogu,” Mvurya stated in the gazette notice.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, led by William Kabogo Gitau, declared four vacancies in the Media Council of Kenya and invited applications from qualified candidates to be forwarded to the selection panel within seven days.

This comes as the ministry also renewed the term of the Media Council’s current leadership.

Joseph Maina Muiruri was re-appointed as Non-Executive Chairperson, while Susan Karago, Timothy Wanyonyi Chetambe, and Tabitha Mutemi were re-appointed as members.

In the health sector, Aden Duale appointed Dr Dabar Abdi Maalim as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Nursing Council of Kenya for a three-year term.

The appointment is expected to boost leadership within the country’s nursing and midwifery regulatory body.

The National Youth Service Council also received a new board member, Brynes Mbogo, appointed by Geoffrey Ruku, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs.

In agriculture, Jonah K. Marindich was appointed to the Board of the National Cereals and Produce Board by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, also for a three-year period.

The water sector saw major re-appointments. Cabinet Secretary Eric Muriithi Muuga re-appointed Simon N. Nganga, Hassan Ahamednur Baricha, Jared Mekenye Ongwae, and Lydia Boke Marwa to the Water Resources Authority Board.

Additionally, Erick Rutto was retained as Chairperson of the Water Sector Trust Fund alongside trustees Josephine Erigae, Lucas Chepkitony, Maryan Ubah Mohamed, Andrew Muiya Mbithi, and Eng Joseph Kimani Ngacha.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui also extended Dorothy Chepkoech’s term on the Export Processing Zones Authority Board for another three years, helping maintain continuity within the country’s industrialisation agenda.

These appointments, most of which took effect on July 25, 2025, reflect the government’s efforts to strengthen service delivery through institutional stability and leadership renewal.
